The Salisbury Falcon Twirlers defended Tournament Indoor Association Chapter 2 and All-Chapter World Class Twirling Champions.  Their 2010 program, “Hide and Seek” was a musical interpretation by “Making April”. The 13 member squad consists of students in grades eight through twelve.

The Falcon Twirlers are sponsored by Salisbury Twirling Boosters and the Salisbury Township School District.  As an original member of Tournament Indoor, the Falcons have won many awards.  Most recent awards are 19 time Chapter 2 World class Majorette champions, 2 Jennifer Joy Dillman awards for most improved twirling squad, 18 All Chapter World Class Majorette Championships and were the recipients of the Robert Musser award for outstanding Sportsmanship in 2000, 2002 and 2003.

“Success in TIA is not something to take for granted or ever take lightly.” Says Falcons designer Rob Tocci, who shares the directorship with his wife Chris, “You have to work hard to be successful in TIA. Everyone is waiting for you to slip up. In order to maintain your success year after year, you have to put in the time. You need to prepare, plan, train, recruit, train more, and hope you made the right choices. It definitely takes a lot of work.”

Salisbury Twirlers were started a long time ago.  They are an original twirling unit in TIA. Rob Tocci added, “When we took it over, there were several down years, and getting back to a competitive level took some time.  Chris (Rob’s wife) was a Salisbury Twirler since her 5th grade year; she assisted the year after graduating and took over the program the next year. Both shows are completely designed by Chris and me.”

Salisbury has had many assistant instructors. The importance of tradition and commitment to the twirling organization is apparent. Chrissy (Iacocca) Young, Julie Sentz and Lynn Unger, all were Salisbury graduates.  Chrissy, who does the HS Program now, handled the MS through most of the late 90s, before Julie took it over.  Lynn and Julie have done the MS for the past few years together.  We have had countless past graduates work with the program over the years.

It is no wonder that the tradition is that of a winner!
