Russell's School of Baton Celebrates 18 Years of Tradition! PDF

r3The Russell's School of Baton and Dance started over 18 years ago with a vision. The vision was to bring the arts back to Coatesville and throughout Chester County, PA. Never would they have expected the studio to grow, prosper and today to be a household name. The Russell family - Doug, Elaine, Tammy and Holly - have taken one small baton class when they first opened, to now over hundreds of students across the country and well over 100 national and world championships. About 10 years ago, the Russells wanted a competitive team which is now known as The Russell All-Stars Twirling, Dance and Color Guard Teams. The teams are the pride and joy of the studio.

This 2010 season has been not only a huge success but a year of achieving and setting high goals. At the studio and at each rehearsal not only is the sport of baton twirling taught, but technique, dramatics, difficulty of tricks and body work that goes along with the twirling tricks. The teams auditioned last August and would have never expected to have come home with two championships and the incredible respect and support for baton twirling. Baton twirling is not always respected and treated as an art and a sport, but this time around people's views have changed.

r1The shows were designed, the teams were set and the bar was raised. Never once did the coaching staff back off from where they wanted the twirlers to go. The novice twirling show - entitled "King of New York" from the Broadway musical "Newsies" was created to show how well young twirlers can come together. They trained and showed how all can come together and become a team.

The world twirlers 2010 show was from the movie "Fame" and was entitled "Dreams". Mrs. Elaine Russell choser2 this show after adding several new members to the world team this year. The entire story was to show the concept to always believe in what you do no matter age, experience, etc. Each member strived to achieve those individual and team goals and learned how working together can bring you your dreams!

The Russell's All-Stars have and will continue to make many young twirlers dreams come true.
