TIA Hosts Two Indoor Clinics |

Judges for the 2009 Tournament Indoor Season recently attended the training session sponsored by the National Judges Association and TIA for color guard and percussion judges. Clinics were held December 7th at Daniel Boone HS in Birdsboro, PA and December 13th at Tyrone area HS in Tyrone, PA to educate judges for another season serving the over 80 on the TIA docket. Informative seminars were held focusing on General Effect and Ensemble Analysis while Mr. Greg King and Ms. Rebecca Rinda delved into the downstairs Equipment and Movement captions using students of Daniel Boone HS Winterguard to demonstrate a variety of choreography examples for the different classes.

Two Locations, Two Dates !
The National Judges Association and Tournament Indoor Association will hold their annual Indoor Adjudication Clinics on Sunday, December 7,2008 at Daniel Boone HS in Birdsboro, PA an on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Tyrone Area HS in Tyrone, PA. Registration at both events begins at 9am. Current judges and prospective are encouraged to attend. The TIA instructional community is welcome to attend as well. All current and prospective members are encouraged to fill out the 2009 availability form on this site.
Topic of interest include the four visual captions (in color guard, majorette, and dance) with hands-on participation in movement and equipment skills as well as seminars in Ensemble Analysis and General Effect. Percussion judges will attend a full day of percussion seminars in concert and marching percussion with added emphasis given to the new Intermediate A Class in Marching Percussion.

TIA is expanding its platform to include Scholastic Jazz Ensemble Competition during the 2009 season.
Two competitive classes will be offered this year: "A Class Jazz" for developing programs with limited instrumentation and resources (including Middle School programs), and"Open Class Jazz" for established scholastic competitive programs.
This season will include at least four Jazz Ensemble Competitions at the Chapter level between January 31 and April 25, 2009. The All Chapter Championships in each division are scheduled for Wildwood Weekend May 1-3, 2009, culminating in the crowning of the first TIA Atlantic Coast Jazz Ensemble Champions in each division.

The new sub-division criteria/scoring for the A class approved at the congress are currently being reviewed for incorporation into the rulebook.
Unit directors & staff members are always invited to attend these clinics.

- Visual Design - Majorettes
- Running a Successful Indoor Contest
- Preparing for a Critique
- Designing for A Class Units
- Understanding the new 7/13 scoring approach on IA Movement & Equipment for Novice, A, Jr., Middle School units
- Designing for Open Class Units
