NJA is Seeking Highly Qualified Judges

Do you enjoy watching performance ensembles? marching bands? dance teams? jazz bands? Did you ever think that you may enjoy judging competitive performing arts events? If so, and if you have special skills and talents that you can bring to our organization, we are interested in hearing from you!

Each fall, National Judges Association assigns hundreds of adjudicators to critique the performances of hundreds of marching bands throughout the mid-Atlantic region.  Field shows are held from early September through early November, and high qualified music and visual judges are always welcome to join the ranks!

During the indoor season, from mid-January through early May, hundreds of dance teams, percussion ensembles, color guards and twirling units compete in the nine-state region of TIA.  Jazz bands and concert bands are also competing during this season, and NJA is actively seeking highly qualified visual and music judges for these events.  If you are interested in judging parades or other special events related to the performing arts, please contact us as well.

Dr. Pierce Sanute, TOB/TIA Director of Education, will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and he will also provide you with information on the application process, mentoring system, educational clinics and seminars, and opportunities to gain hands-on educational experiences as you seek certification as an NJA member!
