Since 2009 the Belvederes Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps of Schuylkill Haven, PA has provided financial support to talented high school musicians who have expressed a desire to perform with the TOB All Star Band. The students are nominated by their respective band directors in the Schuylkill Haven and the Blue Mountain school districts for consideration. The successful nominees each receive a financial grant to help defray travel and personal expenses for All Star Band activities.
The Belvederes Alumni Corps was organized in 2007 by former members of the Schuylkill Haven Belvederes Junior Drum and Bugle Corps that was active during the 1960’s and 1970’s. The corps won the Eastern States Drum Corps circuit championship in 1973 and 1974. Former members of other corps, notably the Emmaus Sentinels and the Reading Buccaneers, are also part of today’s roster. The alumni corps soon decided to get involved in supporting today’s high school musicians as a payback in memory of the parents and the community for their support of the junior corps many years ago.
The 2015 nominees from Schuylkill Haven High are Meagan Dasch, Zachary Semanco, and Tyler Corby. The trio are members of the Haven High drum line. They also practice and perform with the Belvederes Alumni when their schedules permit.
